Palacios Mobile Service & Repair Case Settles for $9,400
Palacios Mobile Service & Repair paid $9,400.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $7,050.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,350.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in July 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Palacios Mobile Service & Repair installed diesel particulate filters in a non-verified configuration and reported them as verified diesel emission control strategies into ARB’s Truck Regulation Upload, Compliance, and Reporting System (TRUCRS) and offered for sale. Palacios Mobile Service& Repair was also not an authorized installer of verified diesel emission control strategy. ARB documented violations as they related to the Verification Procedure including the Truck and Bus regulation, the Aftermarket Parts Regulations and the California Vehicle Code section 27156. To settle the case, Palacios Mobile Service & Repair agreed to the $9,400.00 penalty and to comply with Verification Procedure including the Truck and Bus regulation, the Aftermarket Parts Regulations and the California Vehicle Code section 27156. In addition, Palacios Mobile Service & Repair also agreed to a recall campaign of all unauthorized installations.
