Pacific Seafood Group Case Settles for $8,500.00
In December 2013, Pacific Seafood Group paid $8,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $6,375.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality and $2,125.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by CARB showed Pacific Seafood Group failed to properly self-inspect its diesel trucks, as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), failed to bring their fleet of transport refrigeration units (TRUs) into compliance with the TRU Air Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) in-use performance standard, failed to register all the TRUs in their fleet in the ARBER database and failed to affix the ARB identification number (IDN) to both sides of all TRUs in the fleet. CARB documented these violations as they related to the PSIP and TRU ATCM. To settle the case, Pacific Seafood Group agreed to the $8,500.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, the TRU ATCM and all other applicable CARB rules.
