Pacific Agri-Products, Inc. Case Settles for $4,875.00
Pacific Agri-Products, Inc. will pay $4,875.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,656.25 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,218.75 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in January 2014.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Pacific Agri-Products, Inc. failed to bring their fleet of Transport Refrigeration Units in compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) Air Toxic Control Measure regulation. To settle the case, Pacific Agri-Products, Inc. agreed to the $4,875 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, TRU and other ARB programs.
