Nilfisk A/S, Nilfisk Pressure-Pro, LLC and Hydro Tek Systems, Inc., Settle For $100,000
In December 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Nilfisk A/S, Nilfisk Pressure-Pro, LLC (Pressure-Pro) and Hydro Tek Systems, Inc. (Hydro Tek), for the companies’ violations of CARB’s air quality regulations. Pressure-Pro, based in Fort Pierce, Florida, and Hydro Tek, based in Redlands, California, are subsidiaries of Nilfisk A/S, which is based in Brøndby, Denmark.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed that Pressure-Pro and Hydro Tek failed to obtain CARB certification for 707 model year 2016-2021 pressure washers sold in California in violation of the “Evaporative Emission Requirements for Off-Road Equipment” Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13, §§2750-2774).
To settle the case, Nilfisk A/S, Pressure-Pro, and Hydro Tek agreed to the penalty of $100,000. Nilfisk A/S, Pressure-Pro, and Hydro Tek cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter, and to stop further sales of illegal equipment powered by small
off-road engines into California.
Of the total amount, $50,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. The remaining amount of $50,000 will fund the Supplemental Environment
Project (SEP) entitled Urban Wood Utilization, with Sacramento Tree Foundation. This SEP diverts trees removed from the urban forest away from landfills and instead, mills and dries them and makes them available to the community for purchase as live edge slabs and dimensional lumber.
