MOJAVE – School Bus One, which was originally scheduled to be destroyed, will be preserved and housed at the Mojave Unified School district Bus Facility. With the financial assistance of the Air Resources Board's Lower Emission School Bus Program, School Bus One will be replaced with a safer and cleaner vehicle for the students of the Mojave area.
What: | Commemoration of the official retirement of Historic School Bus One (a 1951 Crown Coach), the oldest operating bus in California. An official ceremony will take place in honor of School Bus One's 55 years of memorable service with a final "key locking" to send the bus off to a well-deserved retirement. |
Who: | State and local officials, and members of the community. Confirmed Speakers are: Dr. Robert Sawyer, Chairman of the California Air Resources Board; Larry Phelps, Superintendent of the Mojave Unified School District; and a retired driver of School Bus One. |
