SACRAMENTO– The California Air Resources Board (ARB) will showcase one of its Innovative Clean Air Technologies (ICAT) projects, Westport Innovations' clean air bus, at its regular Board meeting on Thursday, January 28, 1999 at the following location:
2020 L Street
Sacramento, California
Canada's Westport Innovations will demonstrate its natural gas injector technology in heavy-duty diesel transit buses, which use mostly natural gas with a small amount of diesel fuel. The project was co-funded by the ARB's ICAT program and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD). The BAAQMD currently has several of the clean air buses in use on the UC Berkeley campus.
The ARB's ICAT program is designed to create successful partnerships to help companies that have developed innovative methods to help improve California's air quality to move from research to commercialization of the new technology.
Photo Opportunity: The bus will be on display in the parking lot adjacent to ARB headquarters at 9:30 a.m., with ARB and Westport Innovations technical staff available to answer questions about the bus' operation.
