OAKLAND -- The California Air Resources Board (ARB) will hold a community workshop to discuss environmental justice (EJ) issues in regard to climate change emissions from motor vehicles:
Tuesday, July 6
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Elihu Harris State Building
1515 Clay Street, Room 1
Oakland, California
Opening remarks will be given by Dr. Henry Clark of the West County Toxics Coalition, followed by a presentation by ARB staff and an open discussion period.
By 2005, the ARB is required by legislation (AB1493, Pavley, 2002) to adopt motor vehicle emission standards for global climate change emissions. ARB staff is seeking comments on the proposed regulation, scheduled to be heard by the Board in September.
Participants are also encouraged to remain following the workshop for a presentation by Redefining Progress, a non-profit organization researching the impacts of climate change on California's communities.
