Environmental Justice (EJ) Workshop on Climate Change in Fresno
FRESNO -- The California Air Resources Board (ARB) will hold a community workshop to discuss environmental justice issues in regard to climate change emissions from motor vehicles:
Thursday, July 8
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
First Congregational Church
2131 North Van Ness Blvd.
Opening remarks will be given by Ray Leon of the Latino Issues Forum, followed by a presentation by ARB staff and an open discussion period.
By 2005, the ARB is required by legislation (AB 1493, Pavley, 2002) to adopt motor vehicle emission standards for global climate change emissions. ARB staff is seeking comments on the proposed regulation, scheduled to be heard by the Board in September.
Participants are also encouraged to remain following the workshop for a presentation by Redefining Progress, a non-profit organization researching the impacts of climate change on California's communities.
