SACRAMENTO – New, more stringent emission standards for passenger cars, light trucks and sport utility vehicles will be discussed starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 22 at the California Air Resources Board's El Monte office, 9530 Telstar Ave.
At the workshop, ARB staff will discuss, and hear industry comments on, proposals to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 75 percent starting in 2004, reduce evaporative emissions, extend emissions control equipment durability and other emissions-related matters.
CARB's mission is to promote and protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering effects on the economy. The CARB oversees all air pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain health based air quality standards.
