NC Brands Limited Partnership Case Settles for $8,500
In April 2019, a case was settled with NC Brands Limited Partnership (Norwalk, Connecticut) for selling General Purpose Cleaner (non-aerosol) products into California that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standard specified in the Consumer Product Regulation, title 17, California Code of Regulations (17 CCR) section 94509(a). This product also contained prohibited alkylphenol ethoxylate surfactant compounds prohibited in General Purpose Cleaners (17CCR section 94509(m)). NC Brands Limited Partnership paid $8,500 in penalties for 0.07 tons of excess VOC emissions and 0.33 tons of prohibited alkylphenol ethoxylate surfactant compound emissions. To come into compliance, NC Brands Limited Partnership reformulated the product to meet the emission standards.
