Musket Case Settles for $50,000
From the first through fourth quarters of 2016, Musket incorrectly reported California Reformulated Gasoline Blendstock for Oxygenate Blending, Ultra-Low-Sulfur Diesel, and biodiesel fuel transactions in its quarterly Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) reports, in violation of LCFS (Cal. Code Regs, tit. 17, § 95494(b)).
California Air Resources Board (CARB) investigators identified these errors through an audit of unreconciled LCFS quarterly reports. On June 2, 2017, CARB contacted Musket regarding the errors and, on January 9, 2018, Musket corrected its quarterly reports, bringing the company into compliance with the regulation. Musket formed a compliance team and implemented new data checks to prevent this error from happening in the future.
Musket fully cooperated with CARB in this matter and agreed to pay the $50,000 penalty.
