On May 3, 2019, Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine America, Inc. (Mitsubishi), located in Itasca, Illinois, settled with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for violations of the off-road compression-ignition engines and equipment regulation. Mitsubishi self-disclosed that they manufactured for sale, offered for sale, or labeled for introduction into commerce in California one model year 2016 engine and one model year 2017 engine that were not reported to CARB pursuant to California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2423(d)(7). Additionally, one type of emission control label Mitsubishi installed on 314 engines did not comply with the requirements of California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2424(c)(3). Mitsubishi agreed to pay a penalty of approximately $12 per violation for a total of $3,750. Mitsubishi has relabeled many of the affected engines and is now in compliance with the California regulation.
