Middle Market Operating Partners, Inc. Settles For $18,000
In November 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Middle Market Operating Partners, Inc. (MMOP), with its principal location in La Canada Flintridge, California, in the amount of $18,000 for violating CARB’s air quality regulations. The $18,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff showed that MMOP sold, supplied, offered for sale, and manufactured for sale in California, a nonaerosol general purpose cleaner product containing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standard specified in the Consumer Product Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 17 §§ 94507 et seq.). In addition, the product displayed a code that represented the date of manufacture (date code); however, an explanation of the code was not filed with CARB as required by the Consumer Product Regulation.
To settle the case, MMOP agreed to the penalty of $18,000 for 15.1 tons of excess VOC emissions and 3 days of labeling violations. The penalties take into consideration the company’s proof of financial hardship. MMOP fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter.
