Medline Industries, Inc. Case Settles for $50,800
Medline Industries, Inc. sold, supplied and/or offered for sale a non-compliant Nail Polish Remover in California. Enforcement Staff purchased a sample of Medline Acetone-Free Nail Polish Remover Pads that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the limit for the Nail Polish Remover category specified in Title 17, California Code of Regulations (CCR), section 94509(a). The violation resulted in 2.39 tons of excess VOC emissions, based upon the formulation and sales information provided by Medline. Medline was also in violation for failing to provide an explanation for date-codes as specified in Title 17, CCR, section 94512(c)(1). Medline has reformulated the product, provided a date-code explanation, and agreed to pay $50,800 in penalties to settle this case.
