MAN Truck and Bus AG Case Settles for $52,500
In June 2017, MAN Truck and Bus AG settled an engine certification case with the Air Resources Board. In violation of California Code of Regulations title 13, section 2420 et. seq. and Health and Safety Code section 43150 et seq., MAN had manufactured new off-road compression-ignition engines intended for import and sale in California without having them first certified under an ARB Executive Order. ARB requires newly manufactured off-road compression-ignition engines intended for distribution in California to first be tested for compliance with California emissions standards in order to obtain an Executive Order. To settle the case, MAN has agreed to pay a penalty of $52,500 to the Air Pollution Control Fund and also refrain from manufacturing uncertified engines intended for import and sale in California.
