Major Transportation Services, Inc. Case Settles for $4,875.00
In November 2013, Major Transportation Services, Inc. paid $4,875.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations : $3,656.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality ; $1,219 .00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges , under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Major Transportation Services, Inc. failed to bring one of their trucks and one of their transport refrigeration units (TRU) in compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards. They also failed to properly self-inspect their diesel vehicles to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they relate to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), Statewide Truck and Bus (STB) regulation and the TRU Air Toxic Control Measure regulation. To settle the case, Major Transportation Services, Inc. agreed to the $4,875 .00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, TRU, STB and other ARB regulations.
