M. Paggen Trucking Case Settles for $6,600.00
In November 2012, M. Paggen Trucking, Inc. (Paggen Trucking) agreed to pay $1,600.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations and: $1,200.00 goes to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $400.00 goes to Peralta Community College District to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program. Paggen Trucking also agreed to return $5,000.00 of Moyer grant monies for not being in compliance with Air Resources Board (ARB) regulations at the time of application for the grant money.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Paggen Trucking failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Paggen Trucking agreed to the $1,600.00 penalty, a return of Moyer grant funds of $5,000.00, and to comply with the PSIP and other ARB programs.
