Loco Motion Express, LLC Case Settles for $16,875
In June 2014, Loco Motion Express paid $16,875.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $12,656.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $4,219.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board showed that Loco Motion Express failed to bring their fleet in compliance with the Drayage Regulation Air Toxic Control Measure, and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. To settle the case, Loco Motion Express agreed to the $16,875.00 penalty and to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program and the Drayage Truck Regulations.
