Lehigh Hanson, Inc. Case Settles for $6,500
Lehigh Hanson, Inc. will pay $6,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,250.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $3,250.00 went to the School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in April, 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Lehigh Hanson, Inc. failed to report six of their off-road diesel fueled vehicles subject to the applicable reporting requirements and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Regulation for In-Use Off-Road Diesel-Fueled Fleets (Off-Road Regulation) and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Lehigh Hanson, Inc. agreed to the $6,500.00 penalty and to comply with the Off-Road Regulation, PSIP and, other ARB programs.
