La Cadena Building Materials Inc. Case Settles for $5,000
In October 2014, La Cadena Building Materials Incorporated paid $5,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,750.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,250.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that La Cadena Building Materials Incorporated failed to properly self-inspect their on-road diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards and failed to register their off-road diesel equipment. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle (ORDV) regulation. To settle the case, La Cadena Building Materials Incorporated agreed to the $5,000.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and ORDV programs.
