KS Industries, LP Case Settles for $230,250.00
In August 2013, KS Industries, LP (KS Industries) agreed to pay $230,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $172,688.00 goes to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $57,562.00 to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District for the school bus retrofit Supplemental Environmental Project.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that KS Industries failed to meet PM BACT requirements for 1996 through 1999 engine model years by January 1, 2012, and 2000 through 2004 model years by January 1, 2013 as required by the Truck and Bus Regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to the Truck & Bus Regulation. To settle the case, KS Industries agreed to the $230,250.00 penalty and to comply with the Truck and Bus Regulation and other ARB programs.
