KLX Incorporated Case Settles for $23,250.00
On May 23, 2012, KLX Incorporated agreed to pay $23,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $17,437.50 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $5,812.50 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Community Colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. The Air Resources Board (ARB) investigation of KLX Incorporated was initiated when an informer identified the company as a violator of the Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) regulation. Based on the information provided during the investigation, it was determined that KLX Incorporated failed to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), TRU and the Truck & Bus regulations. KLX Incorporated was the first company the ARB found in violation of the Truck & Bus regulation. To settle the case, KLX Incorporated agreed to the $23,250.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, TRU and Truck& Bus regulations.
