JLV Transport, LLC Case Settles for $17,100.00
In July 2013, JLV Transport, LLC paid $17,100.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $12,825.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $4,275.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that JLV Transport, LLC failed to update the operator report within 30 days of changes to their Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) fleet, to maintain specified Statewide Truck and Bus (STB) records and to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), the TRU Air Toxic Control Measure regulation and the STB rule. To settle the case, JLV Transport, LLC agreed to the $17,100.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, TRU, STB and other ARB programs.
