JFK Transportation Co., Inc. Case Settles for $59,750
JFK Transportation Co., Inc. will pay $59,750.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $44,812.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $14,938.00 will go to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution control District School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in July, 2016.
JFK Transportation Co., Inc. failed to bring 11 of their buses into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, JFK Transportation Co., Inc. agreed to the $59,750.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB, and other ARB programs.
