JCosme International Inc. Settles For $3,000
In November 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with JCosme International Inc. (JCosme), with its principal location in City of Industry, California, for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
CARB staff conducted an investigation that revealed JCosme sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured nail polish remover and air freshener (liquid/pump spray) category products for use in California containing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that exceeded the standards specified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94509(a).
The penalty in this case is $3,000 for three days of excess VOC emissions. The $3,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality. JCosme cooperated fully with CARB to resolve this matter. To come into compliance, JCosme is no longer offering the nail polish remover and the air freshener products for commerce in California.
