Jack Manufacturing LLC Settles For $3,000
In November 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Jack Manufacturing LLC (Jack Manufacturing), of Cleveland, Ohio, in the amount of $3,000 for violations of CARB’s air quality regulations. The $3,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
An audit by CARB staff revealed that Jack Manufacturing sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured a heavy-duty hand cleaner or soap product for use in California containing a concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standards specified in the Consumer Products Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit.17, § 94509(a)). The VOC violation resulted in 0.02 tons of excess VOC emissions.
The company fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. To comply, Jack Manufacturing will modify the label so the product can meet a less stringent product category and VOC standard.
