$6,000 in Fines Paid by Hoskins Bro. Trucking, Inc.
On January 12, 2009, Hoskins Bros Trucking, Inc. paid $6,000 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $4,500.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, $750.00 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) colleges, and $750.00 to the California Pollution Control Financing Authority to guarantee loans to off-road vehicle fleets that need to buy exhaust retrofits to comply with the in-use off-road diesel vehicle regulation. This settlement was reached in January 16, 2009. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Hoskins Bros Trucking, Inc. failed to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) in 2006 and 2007 years on applicable diesel vehicles. To settle the case, Hosking Bros Trucking, Inc. agreed to the $6,000.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, and the Heavy-Duty Diesel Inspection (HDVI) programs.
