Hoover Egg Company Case Settles for $3,800.00
On April 24, 2013, Hoover Egg Company paid $3,800.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $2,850.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $950.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program.
The Air Resources Board (ARB) investigation of Hoover Egg Company was initiated when an informer identified the company as a violator of the Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) regulation. Based on the information provided during the investigation, it was determined that Hoover Egg Company failed to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), TRU and Emission Control Label (ECL) requirements. To settle the case, Hoover Egg Company agreed to the $3,800.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, TRU and ECL programs.
