$5,500 in Fines Paid by The Home Design/Lifestyle Furniture Company

In June 2009, the Home Design/Lifestyle Furniture Company agreed to pay $5,500 in penalties; $4,125 to the California Air Pollution Fund, $687.50 to the Peralta Community College District, and $687.50 to the California Pollution Control Financing Authority for violating air quality regulations.  An investigation by the ARB showed that the Home Design/Lifestyle Furniture Company failed to properly self-inspect their diesel vehicles to assure the vehicles met state smoke emission standards.  ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSI).  To settle the case, the Home Design/Lifestyle Furniture Company agreed to the $5,500 penalty and to comply with the PSI and other ARB programs.
