HNOS Macana, Inc. Case Settles for $8,250
HNOS Macana, Inc. paid $8,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $6,188.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,062.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in July 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that HNOS Macana, Inc. failed to: (1) bring their diesel fueled Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards; (2) report all required information for an on-road diesel fueled vehicles subject to the Truck and Bus (TB) regulation; and (3) properly self-inspect their diesel fueled trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure, the TB regulation, and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, HNOS Macana, Inc. agreed to the $8,250.00 penalty and to comply with TRU, TB, PSIP, and other ARB programs.
