H.E.R. Trucking, Inc. Settles For $67,500
In April 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and H.E.R. Trucking, Inc. (H.E.R.), located in Montebello, California, reached a settlement for the company’s violations of the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation.
An area-focused investigation conducted by CARB in the Boyle Heights region revealed that H.E.R. was in violation of the PSIP and TB Regulation. H.E.R. was unaware of PSIP requirements and had not completed the required smoke opacity testing on 115 of their heavy-duty diesel trucks in 2018 and 2019.
Due to H.E.R.’s cooperation with bringing their diesel vehicles into compliance with the TB Bus Regulation, the total penalties for the violations of the PSIP and TB Regulation were reduced to $67,500. As a condition of the settlement, the company is required to enroll in the California Council on Diesel Education Technology’s (CCDET) CCDET I Smoke Test Training course, or the CARB Online Smoke Test Training course, and to submit PSIP tests for all applicable vehicles in 2022 and 2023.
The company is in full compliance with all applicable CARB regulations at this time.
