Gyeon Quartz USA, LLC Settles For $12,750
In July 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Gyeon Quartz USA, LLC (Gyeon) of Englewood, Colorado reached a settlement for Gyeon’s violation of the Regulation for Reducing Emissions from Consumer Products (Consumer Products Regulation), specified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, sections 94507, et seq.
An investigation by CARB staff revealed that Gyeon sold, supplied, and offered for sale in California, fabric protectant and general-purpose degreaser products that were not in compliance with the Consumer Products Regulation. The Gyeon G2M Prep and Gyeon Q2 Fabric Coat products contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that exceeded the standards specified in the California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94509(a). The violation was 0.7 tons of excess VOC emissions in the General-Purpose Degreaser and Fabric Protectant categories over a period of three years. Additionally, these products were not in compliance with the product dating requirement of the Consumer Products Regulation under California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94512.
Gyeon fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. Gyeon has reformulated these products and met the product dating requirement to be in full compliance with the California Consumer Products Regulations. The full penalty amount of $12,750 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
