Golden West Demolition Incorporated Case Settles for $2,250
In July 2014, Golden West Demolition agreed pay $2,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $1,687.50 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $562.50 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Golden West Demolition failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). ARB documented violations as they related to the PSIP. To settle the case, Golden West Demolition agreed to the $2,250.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and other ARB programs.
