Global Materials Recovery Services, Inc. Case Settles for $6,900
Global Materials Recovery Services, Inc. provides commercial solid waste and recyclable collection services in Sonoma County. In April 2012, Global Materials Recovery Services, Inc. agreed to pay $6,900.00 in penalties; $5,175.00 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $1,725.00 to the Peralta Community College District for violating air quality regulations.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Global Materials Recovery Services, Inc. failed to comply with the solid waste collection vehicle rule by neglecting to install legally required emission-reduction devices by applicable compliance dates. Global Materials Recovery Services, Inc. also failed to properly self-inspect their diesel vehicles to assure that vehicles met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program (SWCV). To settle the case, Global Materials Recovery Services, Inc. agreed to the $6,900.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and SWCV programs in addition to other ARB programs.
