FTI, Incorporated Case Settles for $14,500
In November 2018, FTI, Incorporated (FTI) of Florham Park, New Jersey, settled violations of the Consumer Products Regulation for $14,500 and is now compliant. FTI sold, supplied, and/or manufactured for sale in California single purpose cleaner products that contained the toxic compound methylene chloride, which is prohibited for use in single purpose cleaners, effective January 1, 2017. The noncompliant products, Tetra Gun Action Blaster and Tetra Gun Cleaner and Light Lubricant, were obtained during a routine inspection by Enforcement Division staff. California sales for FTI products resulted in 0.66 tons of methylene chloride released into the atmosphere. To come into compliance, FTI recalled the noncompliant product from the California marketplace and in the future will only offer compliant products.
