Flying Food Group, LLC Case Settles for $62,250
Flying Food Group, LLC will pay $62,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $46,687.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $15,563.00 went to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to fund School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in October 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Flying Food Group, LLC failed to (1) bring 16 of their heavy-duty diesel trucks into compliance with the with the Particulate Matter Best Available Control Technology requirements, (2) properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards, and (3) comply with the registration requirements of the Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) Program. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure, and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, Flying Food Group, LLC agreed to the $62,250.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TRU, TB, and other ARB programs.
