Figas Construction Case Settles for $6,500
Figas Construction will pay $6,500 in penalties for violating air quality regulations to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. This settlement was reached in October 2017.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Figas Construction failed to bring two of their heavy-duty diesel trucks into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to report all required information for five vehicles in the fleet, as required by the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. Figas Construction also failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the TB Regulation and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Figas Construction agreed to the $6,500 penalty and to comply with TB, PSIP, and other ARB programs.
