Family Dollar Stores, Inc. Settles for $4,000.00
In June 2020, the California Air Resources Board and Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (Family Dollar), of Chesapeake, Virginia, reached a settlement agreement in the amount of $4,000.00. Family Dollar, owned by Dollar Tree, Inc., sold, supplied, and offered for sale private label “Hair Finishing Spray” products that were manufactured by Apollo Health and Beauty Care Inc. for use in California. The Family Dollar private label “Hair Finishing Spray” contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standards specified in title 17, California Code of Regulations section 94509(a). The VOC violation resulted in 0.23 tons of excess VOC emissions. To come into compliance, Apollo Health and Beauty Care, Inc. is no longer being contracted to manufacture the Family Dollar private label “Hair Finishing Spray” products.
