Factory Direct Floor Case Settles for $7,500
On October 31, 2018, a Composite Wood case was settled with Factory Direct Floor (San Leandro, California) for not taking precautions to ensure the flooring that was imported, sold, supplied or offered for sale met the requirements of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products, which has been in effect since January 1, 2009. Factory Direct Floor did not provide a statement of compliance on the customer invoice or customer bill of lading as required. Factory Direct Floor agreed to pay $7,500.00 to settle this case. Factory Direct Floor made improvements to their best management plan, which helps ensure the purchase of compliant composite wood products.
