SF6 is a long lived, extremely high impact greenhouse gas. It can last upwards of 1,000 years in the atmosphere. Due to its unique nature, it is important to specific applications, but should be closely monitored to prevent usage outside of what is strictly necessary. CARB works with users and distributors to ensure SF6 is used responsibly, identify alternatives, and reduce usage as well as emissions.
