This page lists frequently asked questions (FAQ) relating to the emissions certification of new vehicles and engines in California.
Please sign up to the Mobile Source Mailouts and MAC GovDelivery list server. By doing this, you will be notified when a new Mobile Source Mailout (e.g., proposing a new rule or amending an existing rule) or MAC (e.g., providing CARB's policy decisions and interpretations of the regulations and test procedures) has been posted to the Mobile Source Mailouts or MAC web pages. These email notices can replace any of the mobile source hard copy mailing lists on which you may already be.
Confirmatory Testing by CARB - Highway Motorcycles, Off-Highway Recreational Vehicles. Confirmatory testing is emissions testing conducted by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) of a manufacturer’s test vehicle. In the context of this advisory FAQ, “manufacturer” refers to the party that requests certification and whose name is specified on the certification Executive Order, and confirmatory testing refers to emissions testing by CARB of a manufacturer’s certification test vehicle, or a production vehicle representing the certification test vehicle, during CARB’s evaluation of an application for certification prior to issuing an Executive Order. |
