Public Workshop on Sustainable and Equitable Communities: On December 7 via remote access, CARB will hold a public workshop on advancing efforts to build more sustainable and equitable communities through transportation policy and planning as well as land use and housing options within California. Discussions resulting from this workshop are intended to contribute to the Sustainable Communities and Protection Act (Senate Bill 150, Allen, 2017) and the 2022 Climate Change Scoping Plan Update. The public is encouraged to participate and provide input on future policies.
Public Workshop on the Community Air Protection Program: On December 7 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss draft recommendations for 2021 communities and the community selection process as directed by Assembly Bill 617 (Garcia, Chapter 136, Statutes of 2017) and the Community Air Protection Program. At this meeting, the public is encouraged to ask questions about the communities CARB staff is proposing for Board consideration as well as staff’s approach for developing the recommendations.
Public Workshop on Low Carbon Fuel Standard Program: On December 7 via remote access, CARB will hold a public workshop on potential changes to the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) program. The LCFS regulation requires the reduction of the carbon intensity of California’s transportation fuels by 20 percent from 2010 levels by 2030. At this workshop, CARB staff will discuss initial concepts and changes and will also address verbal comments. Written comments after the workshop are encouraged and will be accepted until Jan. 7, 2022.
Sustainable Transportation Energy Pathways Plus Fall 2021 Research Symposium: On December 8 via webcast, Executive Officer Richard W. Corey will give the keynote at the University of California, Davis Sustainable Transportation Energy Pathways Plus Fall 2021 Research Symposium. Executive Officer Corey will highlight CARB’s efforts in achieving carbon neutrality in California’s transportation sector.
Public Meeting: On December 9 via webcast, the Board will hear the following agenda items: (1) 2021 Redesignation Request and Maintenance Plan for the 2006 and 1997 24-Hour PM2.5 Standards for South Coast Air Basin; (2) proposed amendments to the small off-road engine regulations; and (3) adoption of the proposed Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance Regulation.
Public Webinar on In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation: On December 9 via remote access, CARB will host a public webinar on the In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation (Off-Road Regulation). This course will provide detailed information to fleet owners on the Off-Road Regulation and the importance of compliance. The goal of the Off-Road Regulation is to reduce NOx emissions and requires fleet owners to label their off-road vehicles and reduce emissions from their older equipment. This course will cover the applicability of the Off-Road Regulation, current requirements, future compliance deadlines, and an overview of the Diesel Off-Road Online Reporting System.
Public Workshop on Electronic Submission of Mobile Source Emissions Certification Documents: On December 10 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to provide an overview on the new electronic document management system that aids manufacturers with the submission of mobile source emissions certification documents. Topics covered at this workshop will include user account modifications, procedures to create new accounts, and an update on the transition from DMS to the new electronic document management system, CARB eFILE. A demonstration will also be provided.
