PRESSURE VENT VALVE RECALLS

Representatives of two pressure/vent (PV) valves have acknowledged major problems with their PV valves and initiated recalls at distributor warehouses. They have also stated that if any of these PV valves are found in use, they will be replaced without charge to the customer.

Morrison Brothers has initiated a recall of the 749CRB model PV valves. Notices have been sent out to parts house distributors purchasing these valves that they may be defective and need to be replaced. The valves in question have a poppet (central moving part) which does not move freely in the PV valve body. This restricted movement may cause the valve to stick in the open position. Morrison Brothers has also agreed to replace any new valves with this problem which are in use.

EBW has decided to do a total recall of units shipped since February of 1999. Primary shipping dates of concern are September 1999 through December 1999. These valves are likely to leak at a rate greater than certified standards. EBW will replace these units at no cost to customers with new factory tested units or a full refund in lieu of replacements. The affected part numbers are 802-308-01, 802-308-02, 802-309-01, and 802-309-02. These valves will not have the normal manufacturer's date code stenciled on the valve body next to the label identifying valve pressure/vacuum crack points (date code consists of two letters, i.e. "JF").
