Eduardo Palacios Case Settles for $6,000
Eduardo Palacios paid $6,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $4,500.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1.500.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in January 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Eduardo Palacios installed diesel particulate filters in a non-verified configuration. Eduardo Palacios was also not an authorized installer of verified diesel emission control strategy. ARB documented violations as they related to the Verification Procedure including the Aftermarket Parts Regulations and the California Vehicle Code section 27156. To settle the case, Eduardo Palacios agreed to the $6,000.00 penalty and to comply with Verification Procedure including the Aftermarket Parts Regulations and the California Vehicle Code section 27156. In addition, Eduardo Palacios also agreed to a recall campaign of all unauthorized installations.
