Ecology Control Industries, Inc. Case Settles for $23,625
In October 2014, Ecology Control Industries, Inc. paid $23,625 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $17,725 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $5,900 went to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District for the school bus retrofit Supplemental Environmental Project.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Ecology Control Industries, Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Ecology Control Industries, Inc. agreed to the $23,625 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and other ARB programs.
