Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority Case Settles for $17,000
In February, 2011, Eastern contra Costa Transit Authority (ECCTA) agreed to pay $17,000 in penalties; $12,750 to the California Air Pollution Fund and $4,250 to Peralta Community College District, for violating air quality regulations.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that ECCTA failed to properly retrofit many of its Urban Buses and Transit Fleet Vehicles to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Urban Bus and Transit Fleet programs. To settle the case, ECCTA agreed to the $17,000 penalty and to comply with the various ARB programs.
