Desertoys Case Settles for $10,000

During our ongoing investigation into the sale and use of non-California certified vehicles, staff for the Mobile Source Enforcement Section discovered that Desertoys, located in Ontario, California, offered for sale and sold to California resident’s illegal non-California certified vehicles. This is a violation of California Health and Safety Code Sections 43150 through 43153. Desertoys was making payments into the Air Pollution Control Fund when suddenly closed their doors and disappeared without making the final few payments. This case was closed in June 2009 for $10,000.
