Danisco US Inc. Settles For $9,000
In August 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Danisco US Inc. (“Danisco”), with its principal location in Palo Alto, California, reached a settlement agreement in the amount of $9,000.
Danisco owns and operates a food production business that operates eight small and medium-sized refrigeration systems, with the greatest having a full charge greater than 200 but less than 2,000 pounds of a high global warming potential refrigerant, and is subject to CARB’s Regulation for the Management of High Global Warming Potential Refrigerants for Stationary Sources (RMP Regulation).
In January 2019, Danisco was referred for enforcement action due to failure to perform leak checks as specified in title 17, California Code of Regulations section 95386(a). The violation resulted in six units of violations. Danisco came into compliance quickly, put into place policies and procedures to prevent similar issues in the future, and fully cooperated with the investigation.
