CSW Transportation Services, Inc. Case Settles for $2,000
CSW Transportation Services, Inc. paid $2,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $1,500.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $500.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in September 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that CSW Transportation Services, Inc. failed to: (1) bring one of their Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards, (2) failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emissions standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, CSW Transportation Services, Inc. agreed to the $2,000.00 penalty and to comply with the TRU, PSIP and other ARB programs.
