$7,875 in Fines Paid by The City of Monterey
In March 2009, the City of Monterey (Monterey) agreed to pay $7,875 in penalties; $5,906.25 to the California Air Pollution Fund, and $1,968.75 that shall be applied to the installation of an electric vehicle charging station to be installed no later than December 31, 2009, located at Dennis the Menace Park in Monterey for violating air quality regulations. An investigation by the ARB showed that Monterey failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSI). To settle the case, Monterey agreed to the $7,875 penalty and to comply with the PSI and other ARB programs.
